The Local Planning Authority for Cwmbran is Torfaen County Borough Council. The extensive, detailed local knowledge of our members helps ensure that the feelings and aspirations of local residents informs planning decisions. Our role includes making effective observations on planning applications and helping to shape wider planning policies.
At Cwmbran Community Council, planning matters are the responsibility of the Environmen, Sustainability & Planning Committee, though all members are consulted on planning applications before a response is sent to the Local Planning Authority on behalf of the Council.
The Committee also pays close attention to other planning matters, such as the progress of the Local Development Plan. In addition, details of licensing applications are also reported to meetings of the committee in view of their potential impact on the local community.
