Torfaen Museum Trust
Torfaen Museum Trust is the county museum for Torfaen, located in the historic Georgian stable block in Pontypool Park. The Museum houses a rich collection of over 15,000 artefacts — from local prehistoric objects and industrial heritage to fine and decorative art including the world-famous Pontypool Japanware — telling the story of the Torfaen Valley’s social, cultural and industrial history for residents and visitors alike.
The Museum is managed by the Trust, a registered charity established in 1978, which preserves and interprets Torfaen’s heritage for present and future generations.
Cwmbran Community Council has supported Torfaen Museum Trust through core funding contributions and has also supported the Trust through grant awards for specific works such as repairs and improvements to the Museum courtyard in collaboration with Welsh Government match funding, demonstrating ongoing Council commitment to the institution.
This ongoing partnership demonstrates the Council’s commitment to preserving local heritage, supporting educational opportunities, and enhancing cultural life for residents across Cwmbran and the wider Torfaen area.
