On Tuesday 25 October out Cwmbran Community Council pledged their allegiance to support the borough’s armed forces community.

Representatives from Blaenavon, Croesyceiliog & Llanyrafon, Cwmbran and Pontir Town and Community councils, together with members from the Armed Forces Community, signed the national Armed Forces Covenant at a meeting of the full council.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

A framed copy of the covenant scroll will be on display at each Town and Community buildings.

By pledging their support, organisations are able to apply to the Covenant Grant Scheme, which provides financial support for local projects that strengthen ties and mutual understanding between the armed forces community and the wider community.

Eligible projects can apply for grants from £100 to £250,000,
